Exquisite Corpse

Based on the classic Surrealist game, Exquisite Corpse is a month-long project facilitated by Columbia's Postcrypt Art Gallery in collaboration with Wesleyan's Method Magazine.

Exquisite Corpse is a playful method of collectively creating an image or poem. Each collaborator adds to the previous one's work without seeing it first, drawing or writing a specified part of a "corpse" within a set time period and visual frame but without a known theme or aesthetic. Withi this framework of collaboration, chance and imagination determine the composition. We are interested in the potential of both spontaneous and fragmented expression, unlocking subconsciouses of many artists simultaneously to create something incomprehensible, chaotic, bizarre and beautiful.
