(Jan 25, 2026)Truisms (1978–87):
Holzer began creating these works in 1977, when she was a student in an independent study program. She hand-typed numerous "one liners," or Truisms, which she has likened, partly in jest, to a "Jenny Holzer's Reader's Digest version of Western and Eastern thought." She typeset the sentences in alphabetical order and printed them inexpensively, using commercial printing processes. She then distributed the sheets at random and pasted them up as posters around the city. Her Truisms eventually adorned a variety of formats, including T-shirts and baseball caps.

“Body Type goes a step further and turns human bodies into a functional type system. While there are plenty of precedents throughtout the history of art and typography from Peter Flötner’s Anthropomorphic alphabet (1540) to Anthon Beeke's Nude alphabet (1970), Body Type is unique in the way it uses typographical principles to create a type family with different styles.”

		<description>(N/A)tural WØr1d / F1Øw and F1uxNovember 15th, 2025(N/A)tural WØr1d / F1Øw and F1ux is a student art exhibition that bridges to-
gether technology, especially technology-based art, with ecological themes and
concerns. Inspired by Columbia alumni and art historian T. J. Demos’s recent publication Radical Futurisms: Ecologies of Collapse, Chronopolitics, and Justice-to-Come, which calls for the alliance of all people to resist the dictating narrative of a seemingly inescapable end-of-the-world, this exhibition revitalizes the resilience of the anxious generation Z that had a brief period without cellphone before growing into an increasingly technologized and homogenized life. In it, student artists from Columbia College, Barnard College, Pratt Institute and New York University re-imagine the environments they were once familiar with. From autobiographical videos to monochrome photography and digital art, to name only a few of the diverse approaches taken, these student artists challenge the boundaries of artistic genres—exploring the natural versus the artificial to create undefinable presences—reminding us of art’s openness and productiveness in a time of a singular life, a singular world.

		<description>Too Much, Never EnoughApril 3rd, 2025The contemporary condition is defined by the paradox of excess and insufficiency. While our daily life inundated with an over-saturation of media images and consumer products, we also face an ever growing desire for more, as well as a constant sense of deprivation fueled by natural disasters, racial terror, and political instability. Hyper-visibility and erasure, consumption and waste, connectivity and emotional alienation, accumulation and loss, hyper-production and scarcity—all aspects of contemporary life feel simultaneously overwhelming and inadequate.
