For Postscrypt’s second online show, we are exhibiting submitted works related to the bedroom. We are interested in what a home or sense of place means to a person. This could materialize as artifacts lifted from one’s bedroom, photographs or videos of personal space, using media to re-think the boundaries between outside and inside, etc.

This is not a show about the end of the world...
This is about coexistence in the Anthropocene.

“What is dark ecology? It is ecological awareness, dark- depressing. Yet ecological awareness is also dark-uncanny. And strangely it is dark-sweet.” -- TM

After all…

“It is far more affirming to wake up in the darkness of the ecological thought than to continue dreaming of life destroyed forever...” --TM

Inspired by the theories of Timothy Morton, a show on dark ecologies seeks to destabilize an idealized Nature, green consumerism, or any self-assured environmentalism.

How do we creatively move forward from the melancholy of a poisoned planet?
Why am I better than a mushroom? Might poisonous mushrooms save the planet faster than we ever could?
Is environmentalism the new Great Chain of Being?

We are not the authorities on what dark ecology is; in fact we are just as clueless as you. We welcome you to reimagine nature and the future in any medium, to imagine dark ecologies

The Dark Ecologies Show was held on February 14th 2020

“Body Type goes a step further and turns human bodies into a functional type system. While there are plenty of precedents throughtout the history of art and typography from Peter Flötner’s Anthropomorphic alphabet (1540) to Anthon Beeke's Nude alphabet (1970), Body Type is unique in the way it uses typographical principles to create a type family with different styles.”
